Whitehead Signs was tasked with instructions to create an attractive yet dynamic image using the design concepts that we had previously created on their stationery, brochures and pull-up display. About Us

Lynda Whitehead is a Fully Qualified Signwriting Artist with over 50 years of experience in the sign industry.

After serving her apprenticeship in Auckland in 1970, Lynda Whitehead returned to her hometown after qualifying in her chosen career and established Whitehead Signs in 1975.
In 2006 the business was permanently re-located to our home in North Canterbury.
Whitehead Signs became a national award-winning sign company and is well known for its quality of workmanship and excellent service.As the sign industry was moving to a more digital platform, Lynda completed a Graphic Design diploma in 2012, to complement the sign-making part of our business, this proved to be a natural progression to supply our clients with a complete sign advertising package. Whitehead Signs can offer a complete package from design concept to sign supply and installation.
With over 50 years of experience in the industry, Lynda has the knowledge and expertise to supply a sign solution for every application. From hands-on brushwork to digital media and design Whitehead Signs can handle it all.
Of interest, Lynda is proud to work from her home base in Kaiapoi and is involved with a number of local and Canterbury service organizations and prefers to shop where she works in North Canterbury.

Our Services

Complete Sign Service

Lynda is a Trade Certified Signwriter. From hands-on brushwork to digital media and design we cover it all. We specialize in hand-rendered brushwork like surface gilding of honours board and pinstriping of vintage and hotrod vehicles. We also supply and applicate computer cut graphics for temporary coreflute signs or high-performance vinyl media for more permanent ones on ACM sheets. Additionally, we supply signage for commercial vehicles and boats, etc. With the advancement of technology, we also design and print on digital media so the possibilities are endless.

Engraved Wood Signs

For a number of years Whitehead Signs and Design has been supplying clients and companies with timber routered signs. These are especially popular with homeowners who live on a lifestyle block, farmers who wish to add an extra touch to their farm, or stud and housing developers who are looking for something a little more out of the ordinary to brand a subdivision. Timber signs don’t have to be just a boring straight engrave but can be produced dimensionally and with colour and illustrations (see our portfolio). We have won National Awards for our work in this field.

Graphic Design

Apart from being a fully qualified signwriter Lynda also has a diploma in Graphic Design. We specialise in creating logos and original layouts for your new or existing business. The advantage of this ‘in house’ service is that when a logo or layout is designed, the colours will be either vinyl or print compatible. We can work closely with your existing print supplier or use ours either way you can be assured of the best result. We can supply stationery from business cards to letterheads and invoice books.
